29 CFR 1910.1026(k)(1)(i)(A): The employer did not make medical surveillance available for all employees who were or could be occupationally exposed to chromium (VI) at or above the action level for 30 or more days a year: a) Weld shop, far side, second booth from paint spray booth. Welders worked with stainless steel approximately 35 percent of the time over a 12 month period. A welder performing TIG and MIG (flux core) welding on a mid sized stainless steel hopper was exposed to 13.7 micrograms hexavalent chromium per cubic meter of air, as an 8 hour time weighted average, which was 2.7 times the permissible exposure limit of 5 micrograms per cubic meter. Sampling was conducted for 407 minutes, with zero exposure assumed for 73 minutes not sampled. Welders were not provided medical surveillance. Violation occurred on or about 5/1/17.
