Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 007 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.263(e)(1)(v)(a): Mixers with power and manual dumping arrangements were not equipped with safety devices which shall: Engage both hands of the operator, when the agitator is in motion under power, and while the bowl is opened more than one-fifth of its total opening. On or about February 24, 2017, at the above addressed jobsite, employees were operating a horizontal bagel dough mixer, for which the two-hand operations switch(s) (point of operation guard) was bypassed, and wherein the operator, who was assisted by another employee, were removing the dough from the machine when the agitator was is in motion under power and/or while utilizing a single switch/one hand, to rotate the agitator, and while the bowl was opened more than one-fifth of its total opening, therefore exposing the operators to cut, and amputate hazards. NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
