29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer is failing to protect employees from amputation hazards associated with operating equipment with inadequate guarding. This was most recently evident during the inspection of the facility located at 2500 Old Hadar Rd & 2300 Riverside Blvd. Norfolk, NE 68701; where the employer has employees operating, cleaning and performing maintenance on the inadequately guarded cross cut saw located in the thermal pad line. Instances of exposure include but are not limited to: i. Employer having employees clean under the machine while it is operating where the saw is not guarded. ii. Employer storing supplies under the cross cut saw where employees have to reach to get them and the saw is not guarded. iii. Access panel to moving parts on the Fibrabaler secured with a hand tightening screw. iv. Several access panel to moving parts and electrical components on the Fiber Openers on the China Line have unlockable latches as means of securing the doors.
