Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 006D Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1052(d)(1)(i)(A): Where methylene chloride was present in the workplace, the employer did not determine each employee's exposure by taking a personal breathing zone sample of each employee's exposure: a) Electro Chemical Engineering - 571 Sheet Application Trailer - An employee, a Liner/Painter, was exposed to at an eight hour time weighted average of 31 PPM of methylene chloride. This level is 1.25 times the time weighted average permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 25 ppm. This exposure occurred over a 405 minute sampling period on January 13, 2017. A zero exposure was assumed for the 75 minutes not sampled. The employer did not determine each employee's 8 hour time weighted average exposure. b) Electro Chemical Engineering - 571 Sheet Application Trailer - An employee, a Liner/Painter, was exposed to a methylene chloride short-term concentration of 140 ppm. This level is 1.13 times the permissible exposure short term exposure limit (STEL) of 125 ppm. This exposure occurred over a 40 minute sampling period on January 13, 2017. The employer did not determine each employee's short-term exposure. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
