29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: (a) On or about 3/11/15 and at times prior - Processing area, employees working at the drycleaning washers were exposed to contact with dirty shop towels, dirty gloves and other items when loading the washers. The employees were provided work gloves, that were not resistant to solvent, to protect against exposure to mineral spirits and chemicals present in the items to be dry cleaned. (b) On or about 3/11/15 and at times prior - Processing area, employees unloading the washers and loading dryers were exposed to contact with mineral spirits which was used in the dry-cleaning process. Employees were provided work gloves that were not resistant to solvent to protect against exposure to mineral spirits. (c) On or about 3/11/15 and at other time prior - Production area where employees sorted dirty product, hand protection was not provided and required to be utilized.
