29 CFR 1926.1437(h)(2): The employer did not ensure that a monthly inspection meeting the requirements of (h)(2)(i) through (h)(2)(v) of this section was performed and documented: a) Jobsite: On or about 6/20/24, the employer did not ensure that the barge was inspected monthly in accordance with 1926.1437(h)(2)(i) through 1926.1437(h)(3)(ii) in that no monthly inspection were conducted. Abatement Note: Monthly inspections must be conducted by a competent person and include the following: 1) Inspect the means used to secure/attach the equipment to the vessel/flotation device is in proper condition, including inspection for wear, corrosion, and, when applicable, insufficient tension. 2) Inspect the vessel/flotation device to ensure it is not taking on water. 3) Inspect the deckload and ensure it is properly secured. 4) Inspect the vessel/flotation device to ensure that it is watertight based on the condition of the chain lockers, storage, fuel compartments, and hatches. 5) Inspect firefighting and lifesaving equipment is in place and functional.
