29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: On or about May 15, 2023, the distance between the adjustable guard exceeded one-fourth inch exposing employees to struck-by hazards in the following instances: a) In Department #1 Machinist Building, an unknown make and model (no markings) Combination Grinder/Belt Sander had the tongue adjustment set at approximately 3 inches. b) In Department #7 Screw Machine Building (near the Davenport/Wickman Machines), The bench grinder with no markings had the tongue adjustment set at approximately 2-inches on the right and 3 inches on the left.
