29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) Production and warehouse: On or about December 28, 2022 and continuing thereafter, employees used bonding products Normac 600R, Normac 900R and Blair 201 SS cement to bond conveyor belts. The bonding products contained hazardous chemicals including but not limited to, acetone, toluene, and trichloroethylene. The employer did not provide gloves with adequate protection to employees who used bonding products.
