29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by hazards when operating a bench grinder that does not have the tongue guard properly adjusted. The most recent occurrence was evident during the inspection conducted on July 10, 2019 at 1200 Centennial Rd., Wayne, NE 68787. The tongue guard on the bench grinder exceeded 1/4 inch exposing employees to fragmentation hazards should the wheel break or shatter.
