29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: Southern Tire Mart, Covington, GA - On or about May 29, 2018, and at times prior to, employees changed out propane tanks on forklifts without the use of propane resistant protective gloves. Employees were exposed to hand injuries such as, but is not limited to frost bite. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
