29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards were present, or were likely to be present, which necessitated the use of personal protective equipment: (a) Repair Area - On or about December 20, 2023, an employee required to handle hazardous chemicals was exposed to chemical burns and the employer did not assess the workplace to determine if protective eyewear was needed. (b) Repair Area - On or about December 20, 2023, an employee required to operate a table saw and chop saw was exposed to struck-by hazards and the employer did not assess the workplace to determine if protective eyewear was needed. (c) Repair Area - On or about December 20, 2023, an employee required to handle hazardous chemicals was exposed to chemical burns and the employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hand protection was needed. (d) Battery Refill Area - On or about December 20, 2023, an employee required to handle corrosive chemicals while refiling forklift batteries was exposed to chemical burn hazards because the employer did not assess the workplace to determine if protective eyewear was needed.
