29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprockets and chains. All sprocket wheels and chains shall be enclosed unless they are more than seven (7) feet above the floor or platform. Where the drive extends over other machine or working areas, protection against falling shall be provided. This subparagraph does not apply to manually operated sprockets. a. At the workplace located at 720 Marion Rd., Columbus, Ohio, the output conveyer of the lay up line had a rotating chain and two sprockets that were not fully guarded to prevent accidental contact. The chain and sprockets were located approximately 12 inches from the floor level.
