29 CFR 1910.266(d)(7)(i): Hand signals or audible contact, such as, but not limited to, whistles, horns, or radios, were not utilized whenever noise, distance, restricted visibility, or other factors prevented clear understanding of normal voice communications between employees: a: Rock Castle logging site. The skidder operator, dozer operator, cutter, and loader operator/owner, were not within visual or audible contact with each other at all times during logging operations. On February 21, 2013, an employee was killed after being struck by a tree. The dozer operator ran approximately 150 yards, from the woods to the landing, to notify the loader operator/owner of the accident and obtain medical assistance, as determined February 21, 2013. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.
