Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 006 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were working on electrical equipment that were not labeled with the voltage, current, wattage, and other ratings as necessary: The following electrical equipment at the designated locations did not have the voltage marked: a.In House # 6, the electrical panels containing breakers on the east wall and, b.In House # 7, the electrical panels containing breakers on the east wall. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to label the panels with the appropriate voltage, current wattage and other rating as necessary as outlined in National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA) 70, National Electric Code, Section 408.58.
