Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 006 Hazard: LIFTING
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)facility wide -- initial load tests of all under-the-hook lifting devices were not conducted to ensure they were in compliance with the standard listed below. REFERENCE:ANSI B30.20 - 1985, Chapter 20-1, Section 20-1.4, Testing, Paragraph 20-1.4.1, Operational Tests. NOTE:Among other feasible and acceptable methods of abatement of this hazard is to conduct load tests of all under-the-hook lifting devices to determine the maximum load they can sustain.
