29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) On or about October 23, 2023, the employer did not provide guarding that would prevent employees from hazards created by the point of operation of the Shear, R.E.S. Corp., Model 800 hydraulic shear installed on the bed of the upper shake table to be used by operators in the Chopper Department of the Precious Metals Department. Employees were exposed to struck by hazards during use of the shear to cut tape mounted electronic integrated circuits into approximately 24-inch sections before feeding that material into the granulator.
