29 CFR 1910.184(e)(3)(i): In addition to the inspection required by paragraph (d) of this section, a thorough periodic inspection of alloy steel chain slings in use shall be made on a regular basis. a) Shipping/Loading Area: On or about February 20, 2023, and at times prior thereto, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards when using a steel chain from a load spreader that was attached to a forklift, and it was not inspected on a regular basis. b) Warehouse: On or about February 20, 2023, and at times prior thereto employees were exposed to struck-by hazards when using a steel chain from a load spreader that was attached to a 5-ton crane, and it was not inspected on a regular basis.
