Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 006 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.332(b)(3): Additional requirements for qualified persons. Qualified persons (i.e. those permitted to work on or near exposed energized parts) shall, at a minimum, be trained in and familiar with the following: (b)(3)(i) The skills and techniques necessary to distinguish exposed live parts from other parts of electric equipment. (b)(3)(ii) The skills and techniques necessary to determine the nominal voltage of exposed live parts, and (b)(3)(iii) The clearance distances specified in 1910.333(c) and the corresponding voltages to which the qualified person will be exposed. a) On or about April 21, 2021, employees working in the ESS Lab, performing tests such as but not limited to the inline fused burn in test for the EMI filter, were not trained in and familiar with electrical safety-related work practices such as but not limited to when to wear personal protective equipment, how to inspect personal protective equipment, safe working distances on energized equipment, and how to verify that the electrical current has been deenergized.
