29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer does not ensure all equipment used at the facility is provided with proper machine guarding, exposing employees to the hazard of amputation hazards. a) This violation was observed on or about March 22, 2021, where a Standard 200 ton hydraulic press brake with the light curtains elevated above / away from the point of operation.. b) This violation was observed on or about March 22, 2021, where a Betenbender 10' x 160 ton hydraulic press brake light curtains attached to machine but was not operational. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure machine guarding is provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazard(s) created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks.
