29 CFR 1910.1200(h): Employee information and training. 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(3): Training. Employee training shall include at least: 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(3)(iii): The measures employees can take to protect themselves from these hazards, including specific procedures the employer has implemented to protect employees from exposure to hazardous chemicals, such as appropriate work practices, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment to be used; and, a. On or about September 17, 2019, the employer had not provided training in work practices, such as but not limited to safe operating procedures, maintenance procedures, inspection procedures and requirements for cleaning equipment for oxygen service related to the introduction the Futurecraft Oxygen Intensifer compressed gas system for use in transfilling of oxygen cylinders. This compressed gas system involved the use of gaseous oxygen to drive a reciprocating piston that further pressurized gaseous oxygen in the required task of transfilling oxygen cylinders. An employee suffered serious injury on this date from an oxygen explosion event that involved the use of this equipment.
