Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 006 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.303(b)(8)(iii): Electric equipment provided with ventilating openings were not installed so that walls or other obstructions did not prevent the free circulation of air through the equipment: a) K Plant, electrical panels behind the hydraulic presses, 6th and Center Streets, Tarentum, Pennsylvania 15084: Observed on or about July 28, 2015, both air vents on the front of the motor control center for the #3 hydraulic press (LAEIS model number HVAKP 2000) were blocked with cardboard. The blocked vents could result in the overheating of energized conductors (480 volt, 3 phase) housed inside the motor control center. The cabinet was labeled as a HRC Level 0 arc flash and shock hazard. Press operators, electricians, and laborers working in the area of the #3 press motor control center were exposed to the arc flash, electric shock, and electrocution hazards.
