Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 11, group 04, job 55, shift 02, CLOSE U/B CLPS-S/W who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, forceful pulling, and extreme force task requirements combined with task frequency and postures which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. On or about 2-16-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Eliminate or minimize use of magnetized guides if using guides is not essential. 2) Design a lighter weight clamp. 3) Use a latch clamp instead of a magnetized clamp.
