29 CFR 1910.213(r)(4): Suitable guard(s) were not provided to reduce to a minimum the hazard due to the point of operation of saws: a) Building 1 - On or about 11/05/14 and at times prior thereto employees operated the double end trim saw, and were exposed to the unguarded points of operation of the two 18 in. diameter circular disk saws. b) Building 2 - On or about 11/05/14 and at times prior thereto employees operated the double end trim saw, and were exposed to the unguarded points of operation of the two 16 in. diameter circular disk saws. c) Building 3 - On or about 11/05/14 and at times prior thereto employees operated the Morgan chop saw, and were exposed to the unguarded point of operation of the circular disk saw. Or in the alternative: 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, and flying chips: a) Building 1 - On or about 11/05/14 and at times prior thereto employees operated the double end trim saw, and were exposed to the unguarded points of operation of the two 18 in. diameter circular disk saws. b) Building 2 - On or about 11/05/14 and at times prior thereto employees operated the double end trim saw, and were exposed to the unguarded points of operation of the two 16 in. diameter circular disk saws. c) Building 3 - On or about 11/05/14 and at times prior thereto employees operated the Morgan chop saw, and were exposed to the unguarded point of operation of the circular disk saw. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
