29 CFR 1910.134(l)(1): Evaluations of the workplace were not conducted to ensure the written respiratory protection program was being effectively implemented: a) Throughout the facility, on or about 8/3/16: The respirator program, in existence for 5 years, was not evaluated to verify effective implementation. Implementation was lacking in that the following were deficient 1) Fit-testing procedures for air purifying half mask respirators were not mentioned, 2) respiration selection did not include spray painters, 3) respirator selection procedures did not include welders, for whom respirators are provided, 4) procedures for inspecting supplied air for sandblasters were not included, 5) filter changing schedule for DelMonox filtering system used with supplied air was not mentioned, and 6) procedures for regularly evaluating the program including use of employee feedback was not included. abatement certification must be submiited for this item.
