29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: On or about January 29, 2025, the employer failed to select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to skin absorption of harmful substances and chemical burns. Employees working with chemicals including, but not limited to, 3M Scotchkote Electrical Coating, Evercoat Body Shop Body Filler, 3M Scotch-Weld Epoxy Adhesive 2214 Regular, and Klean Strip Lacquer Thinner in the coil room were not provided adequate hand protection, experienced breakthrough of the gloves provided, and experienced skin irritation and rashes.
