29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i): All exposed part(s) of horizontal shafting seven (7) feet or less from floor or working platform were not protected by stationary casing(s) enclosing shafting completely or by trough(s) enclosing sides and top or sides and bottom of shafting: (a) 157 West Jackson Street, New Holland, PA, Interior of Milk Receiving Area, Silo 30C, silo alcove auger motor - On or about June 9, 2022, a 4.5 inch long horizontal shaft which was approximately 2 inches in diameter, located approximately 3 feet above the floor of the alcove was not adequately enclosed with appropriate guarding. Employees were exposed to caught-in hazards, . (b) 157 West Jackson Street, New Holland, PA, Interior of Milk Receiving Area, Silo 30C, floor mounted in front of the silo - On or about June 9, 2022, the whey pump motor contained a 5 inch long horizontal shaft which was approximately 2 inches in diameter which was not guarded. Employees were exposed to caught-in hazards,. (c) 158 West Jackson Street, Lower Engine Room, glycol motors - On or about July 17, 2022, 1 (middle) of 3 glycol motors which pumps glycol for the compressors in the Upper Engine Room, and 1 glycol motor used to pump glycol for the HUMBA line (formerly used for the shake line which is discontinued), containing horizontal shafts approximately 7 inches long and 3 inches in diameter located at floor level and within the walkway to access the electrical disconnect switches for the pump motors were not guarded. Employees were exposed to caught-in hazards. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
