Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to multiple crushing injuries: a. 12 Ton Mobile Hydraulic Crane and Personnel Platform - The headache ball was improperly rigged to the wedge and socket in that the employer used a shackle to attach the two where it was not needed because both were compatible to each other, thus using the shackle allowed for more instability, on or about August 23, 1991. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this condition is to teach employees proper rigging so that they may recognize unsafe rigging conditions that unnecessarily exposed employees to hazards.
