29 CFR 1910.184(d): Each day before being used, the sling and all fastenings and attachments were not being inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer: Vehtek Systems, Inc. - Bowling Green, Ohio: On or about March 10, 2025, employees were exposed to injuries associated with falling or displaced loads in that wire-rope slings were not inspected by a competent person each day, prior to use. Wire-rope slings used in the CMM lab to lift an RH Check Fixture were damaged, not marked with rated capacities, and/or were without identifiable information. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence, or written records.
