Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.217(b)(7)(v): Two-hand controls for single stroke shall conform to the following requirements: (a)Each hand control shall be protected against unintended operation and arranged by design, construction, and/or separation so that the concurrent use of both hands is required to trip the press. (b) The control system shall be designed to permit an adjustment which will require concurrent pressure from both hands during the die closing portion of the stroke. a) On or before 12/11/2025 the employer did not ensure that the spot welders located on the workshop floor were properly guarded in that employees were exposed to caught in hazards at the point of operations while operating spot welders such as: but not limited too; DENGENSHA TOA (Model: NDZ-05T-48BSQ-P-D), in that the spot welder was setup without concurrent pressure from both hands during the closing of the dies, employees were able to engage the electrode with one hand on the start and the other holding the part, exposing employees to a caught-in hazard while performing task such as; reaching into the point of operation to remove a misfed nuts during production.
