Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005B Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1060(a): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee using ladders and stairways, as necessary, which would enable each employee to recognize hazards related to ladders and stairways and train each employee in the procedures to be followed to minimize these hazards. (a) On July 7, 2018, an employee using the 12 foot Werner extension ladder while sand blasting paint off the walls of Water Clarifier 2 was not trained on the hazards of ladder use, such as securing the ladder to prevent it from shifting during sand blasting to prevent the employee from falling and sustaining a serious injury. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence, or written records.
