29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1)(i): The employer shall select and provide an appropriate respirator based on the respiratory hazard(s) to which the worker is exposed and workplace and user factors that affect respirator performance and reliability. a) On or about February 21, 2017, employees investigating an ammonia leak were entering areas with ammonia readings between 35 ppm to 110 ppm without a full face cartridge respirator using appropriate cartridges as required by the employer's Emergency Action Plan.
