Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005A Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seven miles north of Charleston, Arkansas, the employer needs to expand, review retrain and continue to maintain a company safety policy on Fall Protection, Disciplinary Action and Rig Communication with all rig employees. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: 1) Comply with American Petroleum Institute Pamphlet 54, paragraph 4.1 that require oil and gas well drilling and servicing operations to be conducted by careful,conscientious and responsible personnel. Also that employees receive training in correct work methods to reduce the chance of injury to themselves or fellow employees and that a safety program be established and maintained.
