Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): The employer did not provide employees with effective information on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about was introduced into their work area. Employees were not informed of the following requirements of this section included in 1910.1200(h)(1)(i)- 1910.1200(h)(3)(iv): a) In the worksite, 160 Gamma Dr. Pittsburgh, on or about April 12, 2024 - The employer did not provide information and training designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals; location and availability of the written hazard communication program and the relevant SDS sheets, nor the measures employees can take to protect themselves from chemical hazards, including specific procedures the employer had implemented to protect employees from exposure to hazardous chemicals, such as appropriate work practices, emergency procedures and personal protective equipment to be used. Employees were exposed to hazardous chemicals such as but not limited to : Sil-Co-Sil which contained crystalline silica 95-99.9%; Sodium Fluorosilicate 98%; Silicic acid 75%; D.E.H. 570 Epoxy Curing Agent which contained 1,3-Benzenedimethanamine and polyethylene glycol; Milled zircon which contained zirconium silicate and quartz silica; Ref-Bond MP2 which contained magnesium phosphate and amorphous silica; Magnesium oxide and Boric acid 99.9% during production tasks.
