29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) On or about February 15, 2023, at a workplace located at 210 Maple Street, Denmark, Wisconsin, in the CNC Building; an employee was exposed to potential struck by hazards from the automatic table traversing along the x- and y- axis on the Heian Vertical Milling machine. There was not guarding and/or barriers to prevent access during operation. b) On or about February 15, 2023, at a workplace located at 210 Maple Street, Denmark, Wisconsin, in the Boiler Room; the unguarded waste conveyor auger was exposed prior to being fed into the boiler exposing employees to a potential pinch point hazard. c) On or about February 15, 2023, at a workplace located at 210 Maple Street, Denmark, Wisconsin, in the Barrel Building; an employee engaging the clamp hold down on the Baileigh CNC Router Table was exposed to potential pinch point hazards when the clamp was opened and/or closed.
