Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005A Hazard:
29 CFR 1928.57(a)(7): Methods of guarding. Except as otherwise provided in this subpart, each employer shall protect employees from coming into contact with hazards created by moving machinery parts as follows: I) Through the installation and use of a guard or shield or guarding by location per 1928.57(a)(7)(i); and, II) Whenever a guard or shield or guarding by location is infeasible, by using a guardrail or fence per 1928.57(a)(7)(ii). Hillandale Farms doing business as Hillandale Farms Ohio, LLC located at 9715 Rosedale Road in Hicksville, Ohio 43526. On or about May 2, 2022, the employer did not protect employees from coming into contact with unguarded in-going nip points created between the rollers and belts, by means of physical barrier guards or safeguarded locations. Employees were accessing cross and incline conveyors in the upper level of Manure Barn D to perform maintenance, make adjustments to the belt tracking and alignment, or to observe the running belts and rollers.
