29 CFR 1910.106(e)(6)(i): Adequate precautions were not taken to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors. Sources of ignition include but are not limited to open flames; lightning; smoking; cutting and welding; hot surfaces; frictional heat; static, electrical, and mechanical sparks; spontaneous ignition, including heat-producing chemical reactions; and radiant heat: UTCRAS, Inc located at 501 Highland Ave Morton, PA: (a) UTCRAS, Building C: On or about January 21, 2021, the employer did not ensure that sources of ignition were removed from the area where Category 4 flammable liquid(s) were located. Open containers with flammable liquids including but not limited to, Safety Kleen Premium Solvent (flash point ranging from 55.4 to 60.8 degrees F and boiling point of 173.12 F) were used next to heaters. (b) UTCRAS, Building C: On or about January 21, 2021, the employer did not ensure that sources of ignition were removed from the area where Category 4 flammable liquid(s) were located. Spilled flammable liquids including but not limited to, Safety Kleen Premium Solvent (flash point ranging from 55.4 to 60.8 degrees F and boiling point of 173.12 F) were cleaned up with regular household vacuum.
