29 CFR 1910.178(c)(2)(vi)(a): Only approved power operated industrial trucks designated as EX shall be used in atmospheres in which combustible dust is or may be in suspension continuously, intermittently, or periodically under normal operating conditions, in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures, or where mechanical failure or abnormal operation of machinery or equipment might cause such mixtures to be produced. a)On or about 8/22/2018 employees operating a Yale Powered Industrial Truck fueled by Liquefied Petroleum Gas within an area that was Class II Division I due to combustible wood dust located on equipment and floors throughout the facility Wood dust had collected on electrical components located on the first floor such as but not limited to the electrical supply box for the lighting system, main shutoff for the belt sander and the junction box located next to the sprinkler drain off valve on the south wall, exposing employees to an explosion fire hazard.
