Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employee(s) were exposed to an airborne concentration of total particulate listed in Table Z-1 in excess of the 8 hour Time Weighted Average concentration of 15 mg/m3: a) In the abrasive blasting room, on or about 10/28/15: An employee who performed abrasive blasting was exposed levels of total particulate exceeding the Permissible Exposure Limit. OSHA air sampling showed an employee exposed to total particulate at an 8 hour time weighted average concentration of 795.35 milligrams per cubic meter of air, 53 times of permissible exposure limit of 15 milligrams per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for a time of 124 minutes. Zero exposure was calculated for the 356 minutes not sampled. b) Near the abrasive blasting room, on or about 10/28/15: An employee assisting with moving pieces in and out of the abrasive blasting room during blasting operations was exposed to levels of total particulate exceeding the Permissible Exposure Limit. OSHA air sampling showed an employee exposed to total particulate at an 8 hour time weighted average concentration of 37.83 milligrams per cubic meter of air, 2.5 times the Permissible Exposure Limit of 15 milligrams per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for a time of 134 minutes. Zero exposure was calculated for the 346 minutes not sampled. c) In the powdercoat booth, on or about 10/28/15: An employee spraying powder coat material was exposed to levels of total particulate exceeding the Permissible Exposure Limit. OSHA air sampling showed an employee exposed to total particulate at an 8 hour time weighted average concentration of 34.89 milligrams per cubic meter of air, 2.3 times the Permissible Exposure Limit of 15 milligrams per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for a time of 107 minutes. Zero exposure was calculated for the 373 minutes not sampled. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
