29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. On or about 8/7/2013, in the production area of the Pendergrass facility, employees were exposed to amputation hazards at various machines as the points of operations, moving/rotating parts at the machines were not guarded. Instances included: 1 - Smash and Drill Machine (No serial #). Abated/Corrected during inspection 2 - JET Lathe (No serial #) in tool & die shop. Abated/Corrected during inspection 3 - Bridgeport Mill machine (No serial #) in tool & die shop. Abated/Corrected during inspection 4 - 5/8" Notch Press by Brown Boggs (No serial #). Abated/Corrected during inspection 5 - 3/4" Pneumatic Punch Press Boggs (No serial #). Abated/Corrected during inspection 6 - Lantech packaging press (No serial #). Abated/Corrected during inspection 7 - 5/8" Assembly table (No serial #). Abated/Corrected during inspection In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET) for any outstanding instances.
