Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1000(c): An employee(s) was exposed to particulates (Total Dust) in excess of the 8-hour time weighted average limits of 15 milligrams per cubic meter (mg/m3) listed in Table Z-3: (a) In the Plant 3 cutting/gringing area, on or about July 10, 2013, an employee who was cutting/grinding fiberglass boat hulls was exposed to particulates (total dust) at an 8 hour Time-Weighted Average level of 89.6 mg/m3, which is approximately 6 times the Permissible Exposure Limit for total dust of 15 mg/m3. The exposure level is derived from a sample collected over a 339 minute sampling period; the calculations include a zero value for the 141 minutes not sampled. (b) In the Plant 3 cutting/grinding area, on or about July 10, 2013, an employee who was cutting/grinding fiberglass boat decks was exposed to particulates (total dust) at an 8 hour Time-Weighted Average level of 24.5 mg/m3, which is approximately 1.6 times the Permissible Exposure Limit for total dust of 15 mg/m3. The exposure level is derived from a sample collected over a 431 minute sampling period; the calculations include a zero value for the 49 minutes not sampled. (c) In the Plant 1 cutting/grinding area, on or about July 9, 2013, an employee who was cutting/grinding fiberglass boat hulls was exposed to particulates (total dust) at a Time-Weighted Average level of 86.33 mg/m3, which is approximately 5.8 times the Permissible Exposure Limit for total dust of 15 mg/m3. The exposure level is derived from a sample collected over a 507 minute sampling period. (d) In the Plant 1 cutting/grinding area, on or about July 9, 2013, an employee who was cutting/grinding fiberglass boat decks was exposed to particulates (total dust) at a Time-Weighted Average level of 23.8 mg/m3, which is approximately 1.6 times the Permissible Exposure Limit for total dust of 15 mg/m3. The exposure level is derived from a sample collected over a 481 minute sampling period.
