Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1417(c)(1): The procedures applicable to the operation of the equipment, including rated capacities (load charts), recommended operating speeds, special hazard warnings, instructions, and operator's manual, must be readily available in the cab at all times for use by the operator. a. Located at the site, there were employees removing 6 foot by 10 foot concrete slabs and a 60 foot, 3 inch I-beam from a bridge with a Bucyrus Erie 60 ton lattice boom crawler crane, Model 30B, Serial number 134548 that did not have a load chart nor an operator's manual that was readily available in the crane's cab. The crane operator was required to leave the seat of the crane in order to obtain the crane's load chart and operator's manual, thereby exposing the employees to hazards associated with cranes and the hoisting of materials.
