29 CFR 1910.272(g)(2): For an employee who entered a grain storage structure from a level at or above the level of the stored grain or grain products, or an employee who walked or stood in stored grain of a depth which posed an engulfment hazard, the employer did not equip the employee with a body harness with lifeline, or a boatswain's chair that met the requirements of subpart D of this part. The lifeline was not so positioned, and of sufficient length, to prevent the employee from sinking further than waist-deep in the grain. Broken corn silo/waste tank, C-O-D department: Employees performing grain unclogging tasks who wore body harnesses attached to lifelines, did not properly position the lifelines to limit fall distances in the grain to waist deep levels. Employees were exposed to hazards associated with grain engulfment.
