29 CFR 1910.138(b): Selection. Employers shall base the selection of the appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the task(s) to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified. [59 FR 16362, April 6, 1994] a. On or about May 4, 2012, in the dip tank area, employees were required to work with ethanolamine. The glove selected by the employer was not appropriate to protect the employees arms and hands from chemical contact.
