29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1): Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet (3.1 m) above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level. Paragraphs (g)(1)(i) through (vii) of this section establish the types of fall protection to be provided to the employees on each type of scaffold. Paragraph (g)(2) of this section addresses fall protection for scaffold erectors and dismantlers. a) Cellar level, northeast side: Four employees were working from a 2-plank supported scaffold platform, which was one frame high, and were not protected from falling into an elevator shaft by the use of fall protection systems. Employees were exposed to falling approximately 11 feet. On or about 04/18/12. Note: Because abatement of this violation is already documented in the inspection case file, the employer need not submit certification of abatement for this violation as normally required by 29 CFR 1903.19.
