Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to live electrical parts: a.In Compost Building # 1, between fans # 3 and # 4, an electrical box containing live wiring powering fan # 4, had the cover missing, thus exposing employees to an electrical contact hazard. b.On the northeast corner of Compost Building # 2, an electrical breaker box had the cover missing, thus exposing employees to an electrical contact hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace the cover on the electrical box as outlined in National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA) 70, National Electric Code, Section 110.27 A.0.27
