Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard: LIFTING
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)upholstery packing department ! the rated load of an under-the-hook lifting was not marked on the device. REFERENCE:ANSI B30.20-1985, Chapter 20-1, Section 20-1.2, Markings and Construction, Paragraph 20-1.2.1(a), Rated Load Markings. The rated load of the lifting device shall be marked on the main structure where it is visible. NOTE: Also see paragraph 20-1.2.1(b). NOTE:Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is label the lifting device as required by the above listed reference.
