Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets. (a) During the inspection it was found that the employer's hazard communication program and training were not effective, as employees were not informed of the hazards of the specific chemicals, such as but not limited to MP-22XF (combustible dust), Acetyl Tributyl Citrate (irritant), UNI-REZ? 2215 (combustible dust), N-Propyl Alcohol (irritant, flammable), STY-ALLYL ALCOHOL COPOLYMER 100 (combustible dust),and Duplicating Fluid #5 (highly flammable), that they were mixing in heated tanks on a daily basis.
