Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1): Sufficient access and working space was not provided and maintained about all electric equipment (operating at 600 volts, nominal, or less to ground) to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment. On or about March 2, 2023, and at times thereafter, the employer did not ensure sufficient access and working space was provided and maintained about the energized electrical equipment including: a) Tunnel Control Station in the maintenance room - employees were exposed to hazards associated with obstructed access to the control station for operation of the switches. A 5-foot wooden ladder was located in the working space approximately 7 inches in front of a 120-volt tunnel control station that is used daily by employees. b) Hoffman Control Panel in the chemical room - employees were exposed to hazards associated with obstructed access to the control panel for operation of a toggle switch. A 55-gallon blue drum was located in the working space approximately 14 inches in front of a 120-volt control panel that is used daily by employees.
