29 CFR 1910.217(c)(2)(i)(a): Point of operation guard(s) on mechanical power press(es) did not prevent entry of hands or fingers into the point of operation by reaching through, over, under or around the guard(s): a) Press Department- On October 25, 2022, the employer failed to provide guards on mechanical power presses, such as Press #55, which prevented employees from being able to reach through, over, under and around the guards to come into contact with the point of operation. b) Press Department- On October 13, 2022, the employer failed to provide guards on mechanical power presses, such as Press #127, which prevented employees from being able to reach through, over, under and around the guards to come into contact with the point of operation. c) Consumer Department- On October 25, 2022, the employer failed to provide guards on mechanical power presses, such as Press #134, which prevented employees from being able to reach through, over, under and around the guards to come into contact with the point of operation. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
