Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) On or about 09/23/22, employer did not ensure that the pinch roller (SN 205008) where employees were working, utilized adequate machine guarding method such as but not limited to; barrier guards or electronic safety devices, resulting in employees being exposed to rotating parts, crushing hazards, and ingoing nip points from the two rollers. b) On or about 10/06/22, employer did not ensure that the laminate index table (SN 348325) where employees were working, utilized adequate machine guarding method such as but not limited to; barrier guards or electronic safety devices, resulting in employees being exposed to crushing hazards from the upper and lower moving laminate racks. c) On or about 10/06/22, employer did not ensure that the glue roller/adhesive spreader (SN 200473) where employees were working, utilized adequate machine guarding method such as but not limited to; barrier guards or electronic safety devices, resulting in employees being exposed to a rotating parts and nip points from the top doctor roll and the lower coating roll.
